Best Beaches and Sunset Spots in Milos

Welcome to Milos Island in Greece. Milos is our favorite Island from our Cyclades Island Tour, because it is still very original and with its beauty of nature is simply incredibly diverse. In this blogpost we show you the most beautiful beaches and unique places to watch sunsets in Milos.

The most famous beach on Milos Island is Sarakiniko Beach. It reminds of a snow-white moon landscape. The best time to come here is definitely early in the morning, because from 10:00 a.m. it is already quite busy. Also in the evening the light for sunset is incredibly beautiful. Take your time and explore the area! If you want to have an unforgettable experience you can jump from the cliff into the water.

Kleftiko Caves

Our absolute highlight and must do on Milos is visiting Kleftiko. Kleftiko Caves is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, not for nothing Kleftiko is among the top 10 beaches in the world. It is still part of a huge nature reserve (about half of Milos island is a nature reserve). You can reach Kleftiko only by boat. You have several possibilities, for example, by catamaran, sailing or motor boat. The group tours are cheaper of course, but we have decided to charter our own boat for about 150,00 Euro plus 27,00 Euro fuel costs for a duration of about 6 hours via RentBoatMilos. For this kind of boat a boat driver’s license is not necessary. You get a very detailed briefing and also tips, where you can moor your boat. Furthermore, you will be provided with water and snorkeling equipment, so that you are well prepared for your trip to Kleftiko. When you arrive in Kleftiko you are surrounded by impressive rock formations and turquoise water. See for yourself!

Probably the coolest beach to simply relax. We actually spent most of our time here just to come down a little. Two sunbeds cost about 15,00 Euro per day. Music, drinks and snacks can also be ordered. The water here is super shallow and clear and the view is just breathtaking. Also suitable for families with children.

Firopotamos is located in a small fishing village in the north of the island in a small bay not far from Sarakiniko Beach. The beach itself is very small and pebbly, but the place is super beautiful and worth a visit, surely also an insider tip and not so crowded.

Klima Village

The Klima Village is a small, colorful fishing village in the north of the island. It is a great sight when the evening sun meets the facade of the colorful houses. For a romantic dinner with direct view to the sunset it is worth to make a reservation at Astakas Cafe Restaurant. The food is simple and delicious, but the atmosphere and the view was simply the highlight of this place.

Kastro in Plaka

As is well known, the best comes at the end: We probably enjoyed the most beautiful sunset from the roof of Kastro. The castle is located at the top of Plaka, where you have to take some stairs to get up there. At the top there is a viewing platform, which is very crowded. So here’s an insider tip: On the right side of the castle there is a small staircase, which will take you up to the roof of the Kastro. From there you have a breathtaking view and are almost undisturbed. Take a beer with you and enjoy the sunset at the fullest.
